UCL Match Review Barcelona vs Bayern Munich [24/10/2024]

The time had arrived; Barcelona faced Bayern Munich yet again in the Champions League.
 
Barca had not defeated Bayern since May 2015.
 
They looked forward to avenging the 8-2 in 2020 and rightly did so.
 
Barca competed against Munich with Hansi Flick, the former coach of the visitors.
 
With the return of Gavi, Olmo, and Frankie de Jong, Barcelona looked complete in all aspects of the game.
 
The match started off with high intensity as Raphinha opened the scoresheet within the first minute of the game.
 
Bayern did try to equalise and were successful, but the goal was shortly ruled out as Kane was offside.
 
Harry Kane managed to equalise, making it Barcelona 1-1 Bayern in the 18th minute.
 
Barcelona weren't holding back.
 
Lewandowski helps Barcelona take the lead.
Fermin made the run and flicked it over
Neuer's head with Lewandowski just in time, he managed to fire it in the net.
 
Raphinha was just unstoppable, firing Barcelona's third goal just before halftime.

Barca were 2 goals ahead of Bayern Munich.
 
Barcelona had produced 0.91 expected goals in the first half of the game with five shots, with three of those being on target. 
Bayern slightly less with 0.72 expected goals
 
Raphinha netted his third goal of the night in the 56th minute with an assist by Yamal.

The Blaugranas have secured the 3 points against Bayern Munich. 
 
Barcelona defeated Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since May 2015 (3-0), ending a string of six consecutive losses.
 
They have defeated the German team three times in a row by three goals or more (4-0 in 2009, 3-0 in 2015, and 4-1 tonight).
 
Barcelona's Raphinha became the fourth player in European Cup/UEFA Champions League history to score a hat-trick against Bayern Munich, following Roy Makaay in 2002, Sergio Agüero in 2014, and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2017.
 
Barcelona have been the better side this match, deserving their win.
 
This win against Bayern has healed the trauma the fans have felt over the years.
