EURO 2024 SPAIN VS CROATIA [15/06/2024]

The first match of group B started with palatable intensity.

•Yamal became the youngest player to play in the European Championship
•Dani Carvajal scored his first-ever international goal.
•Croatia missed a penalty and the converted goal was disallowed in the 81st minute.

The match started well as Spain began to dominate the game.

Spain had controlled match for the first 10 minutes, holding around 70% of ball possession.

They were continuously dominating with chances but all were cleared.

Croatia's midfield came to clutch as they headed to the opponent's half.

The Croatians increase their ball possession and level it with the Spaniards.

Croatia were slowly getting started.

They managed to increase their ball possession to around 54%.

Morata opened the scoresheet for Spain in the 29th minute as he made a mercurial run through the centre and Ruiz slid him the pass and of course, he scored.
3 minutes after the first goal Spain doubled their lead Yamal passed to Pedri who short-passed it to Fabian Luiz, who with impressive footwork shot the goal.
The footwork was good and the finish was even better.

Croatia, keen on getting back, had their share of chances but weren't successful.

Spain showed no signs of stopping.
In the extra minutes of the first half, Dani Carvajal struck, making it 3-0.

Yamal whipped the ball inwards and Carvajal was there to put it in the net.

Carvajal scores his first international goal.

Croatia had the ball, but Spain bossed the first half.

Even though the possession was equally matched, Croatia lacked the spark in front of the goal.

The second half began with high intensity from both sides.

Rodri was booked for bringing Petkovic down in the box after he had an open goal to tap into.
A penalty was awarded.

Unai Simon initially saved the penalty but it was shot back.

A VAR check resulted in the goal being disallowed.

Perisic made a run before taking the penalty, hence the goal was overruled.

Great save from Unai Simon.

Croatia tried to fight back but were just unsuccessful.

Spain continued bossing the game.

The match ended 3-0.
