DURAND CUP 2024 FCG VS SLFC [17/08/2024]
FCGoa’s run in the Durand Cup came to an end as Shillong Lajong qualified on goal difference.
•Shillong opened the scoresheet in the 30th minute.
•Devendra equalised in the 33rd min
•Goa's GK saw red in the 80th minute.
The match started nicely as both teams slowed down to assess and take control of the game.
FCG proved to be superior in the first 15 minutes of the game, maintaining ball possession and having the majority of attacking chances.

Shillong registered themselves on the scoresheet in the 30th minute.
Marcos received the ball from the corner a corner kick, he took his shot but it deflected and rebounded back to his feet which was shot to the net.
The space left behind and the chaos in the defensive line caused them to concede that goal.

Devendra went past 3 defenders and chipped the ball into the top corner.
Goa gained back their confidence.
There was chaos in the box and an amazing acrobatic goal-line clearance was done by Goa's Defender.

The second half commenced with both teams putting up a great fight to secure the 3 points.
Shillong Lajong had shown instances of great pace and quick counterattacks.
Red Card!!!
Midst of the crisis FC Goa had been reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute. What made matters worse was it was none other than Goa's gk who had to walk out of the field following a red card.
There was no difference in the scoreline post the red card.
Shillong Lajong and 2 golden opportunities but in vain.
The match ended FCG 1-1 SLFC.

Both teams put up a good fight but the results came down to goal difference.
