EURO 2024 AUSTRIA VS FRANCE [18/06/2024]
France faced Austria in their first Euro clash.
Max Wober scored an own goal in the 38th minute..
Griezmann suffered a minor head injury.
Kylian Mbappe subbed off in the second half after a heavily bleeding nose, speculating broken nose rumours.
Although France was heavily favoured to win the Euro, they had difficulty defeating Austria 1-0.
The match started with France controlling the game. They had their first shot by the 9th minute which was on Target.
Austria slowly gained confidence and was able to hold France back from scoring.
Their ball possession also started increasing.
It was in the 38th minute that France opened the scoresheet as Max Wober scored in his net.
Mbappe crossed the ball from the right and was headed by Max Wober.
Austria managed to increase their ball possession from 30% to 46% by the end of the first half having only one shot.
Meanwhile, France had 54% of possession and 5 shots out of which 1 was on Target.
Just as the second half was beginning, Max Wober gave Griezmann a tiny shove, which caused him to tumble hard against the advertising board.
He needed treatment as his head was bleeding.
Kylian Mbappe missed an easy chance in the 55th minute which could have set them a 2-goal lead.
Kylian Mbappe required medical attention after colliding with a defender's shoulder, causing his nose to bleed severely.
A silly occurrence occurred in the 90th minute.
Mbappe came back onto the pitch and sat down, this led him to earn a place into the books of the referee.
Nine minutes were added to the stoppage time because Mbappe's injury took up the majority of the time.
Austria was still aiming for the equaliser but was unsuccessful.
France missed many chances.
The match ended AUT 0 - 1 FRA.

France lacked finishing and sharpness throughout the match.
Austria held France back for a long time but the header proved to be the sole divider for the match.
